Exploring the inherently aesthetic qualities of scientific images, the exhibition seeks to encourage scientists to consider their work, lab or self in a creative way.

We invite you to participate by submitting work in the form of a digital moving or static image produced as a result of your scientific work, representations of your lab space or yourself . Submissions need to be high quality and visually rich, inspired by the idea of Linear Progression, which could be shown either in one image or through a series of images that engage with each other.

http://faces-l.net/F/content/linear-progression-science-week-2010-australia#comments announcement call for work exhibition open sumission Science Art Thu, 20 May 2010 10:22:32 +0000 Lubi Thomas 557 at http://faces-l.net Artivistic TURN*ON Transdisciplinary Festival http://faces-l.net/F/node/454
The world to come is so sexy.

We are unstoppable for we are fueled with an incredible urge to embrace the pleasure provided by difference, exchange and liberation. The result was published as Heads and Tales by CHARTA Art Books, Milan/ New York in 2009. An exhibition will tour through the USA and Europe to promote the book. The portraits in Heads and Tales are photographic documentations of sculptures Heide Hatry created out of animal skin and body parts. She invited writers to select one image and create a life for her. As the work addresses issues of violence, death and gender identity, the writing reflects similar concerns as they are specific to women. “Finding a way to be a woman is finding a way to live with fatal knowledge,” says Catharine MacKinnon in her introduction, and Hatry and her collaborators speak that fatal knowledge which others are at pains to suppress.

http://faces-l.net/F/node/314#comments announcement book release part exhibition Sun, 08 Feb 2009 16:46:15 +0000 Anna Schmid 314 at http://faces-l.net
