STRP art and technology festival_The Netherlands_'scale'_interactive 'singing' electric fish installation

You are welcome to interact with the 'singing' electric fish at the STRP festival in Eindhoven!

In the STRP festival this week, we have a collaborative interactive installation with electric fish from the Amazon called 'scale'. These fish emit a weak electric field in order to navigate; each species uses a different frequency and we have transformed this frequency into sound. Participants can use a hacked Wiimote and a Lemur touchscreen to interact with and 'conduct the choir' of electric fish. The scientist with whom we collaborated has studied these fish for ten years; we have learned much about the human brain through this research. We hope to bring public awareness to the remarkable qualities of these fish as well as to the protection of their natural habitat. And we believe the sounds are wonderful to hear! A ring tone will be made available from the composition;-)
