I often work around forms of (mediated) collective storytelling. I tell the stories through a different interface, revealing or questioning structures and assumptions inherent to the underpinning systems. Central to my practice is working with FLOSS and hardware hacking as a means to re-purpose objects and to endow them with functionalities that challenge perception.

Jodi Rose

I'm an artist, writer, radio producer and experimental music composer who first started listening to bridge cables in 1994, and created Singing Bridges, an urban sonic sculpture using the cables of bridges as musical instruments on a global scale. I work with field-recordings, on-site interventions and improvisation, in collaboration with artists around the world, and have traversed the globe from Helsinki to the Mekong Delta and Singapore to Paris, in an endless quest for bridge music. Work is recently exhibited, broadcast & performed at ISEA, European Sound Delta, Pixelache, Transit Lounge, Liquid Architecture 9, soundmuseum.fm, Das Kleine Field Recordings Festival & Radio WNE.

My individual work as an artist has developed within the structure of a visual diary - a journal, perhaps a journey. "Diary of Images", the name I have given to the body of my work, is an on-going process, a record of events, an exposé of cultural issues, a receptacle of personal and collective memories. From photo-silkscreen to video, from physical to digital, the body of my work in the last 30 years can be described as an open hybrid book. At present, I have added olfactory art as a new medium and its capacity to resurface emotions and individual/collective memories.
