Nancy D Nisbet

I am a visual artist and educator that has specializations in new media, photography, video, installation and performance. My artwork frequently exists as site-specific performative events and seeks to stimulate dialogue between myself, participants, and the local community. My recent work explores the influences of rapid developments in wireless information technologies on performances and understandings of identity in the context of our social/political climate of surveillance and identity authentication. I received my MFA from the California Institute of the Arts (2000). My work has been presented internationally including exhibits in the United States, Mexico, Germany, The Netherlands, Japan and Thailand.

Aileen Derieg

I work as a translator in Linz, Austria, with an emphasis on contemporary art and new media. Mostly I translate exhibition catalogues and articles for art journals and academic publications, but my greatest interest is in understanding all the different layers of communication technologies, how we use them and how they influence us.

With a focus on visual communication, I extend my interests across disciplines and areas of knowledge, feeding a strong curiosity about everything. Central subjects to my work are identity (collective and individual), memory and uses of technology. Art projects evidence process as art and are practical reflections on fictional biography, social utopias, ways of knowing and women's achievements. Outcomes take form of texts (books), photographs, installations and live audiovisual performances. Blogging is used as reflective tool on processes and results.

Anna Schmid

I am a German art historian, taught for 20 years, but recently I mainly work as an art consultant. I live in NYC, but go often back to Berlin, where I grew up.
I am very interested in contemporary art made by woman, and I don't mean feminist art with the emphasis of the fact that we have a vagina. I noticed that from an art historian and art critical standpoint, woman make incredible work, for about 40 years now.
I would start with people like Carolee Schneemann, Valie Export, Eva Hesse, Hannah Wilke, Cindy Sherman, Ana Mendieta, Gina Pane, Marina Abramovic, Ann Hamilton, Mona Hatoum, Janine Antoni, Rineke Dijkstra, Pippilotti Rist, Sam Taylor Wood, Heide Hatry, Chrissy Conant, Regina Jose Galindo,... to name a few of the most powerful (and of my favorite) ones.
